Scottish update and Hes East
Just got back from a moderately succesful trip to Speyside, and having a very brief lay-over in York before heading off to Spain via Lincolnshire and Luton airport. I managed to get Parrot Crossbill, crossbills bearing all the hallmarks of Scottish crossbil (although I don't have any sound recording equipment, but as good as it gets otherwise) Ptarmigan, Cappercaillie, Black grouse etc etc. Failed to see any eagles and Crested Tit, but not much effort or time was put in to the latter. Anyway further updates, and crappy pics, will follow. Getting back to York, the temperature difference was noticeable as was the presence of migrants. A brief stop off at Hes East produced a Water Pipit, 2 Yellow Wagtails, 7+ White Wagtails, a Wheatear that looked a bit Greenlandish that i meant to come back to but it flew off, some singing Chiffchaffs and a few other bits and bobs. I go north for a week and apparently I've missed April and come back to mid-May!
