The rest of Autumn 2011
And the rest of Autumn 2011 went by in a bit of a blur, with various twitches, new birds, and the odd minor find, although October and November failed to live up to the thrills of September.
On my return from Ireland, a midnight dash up to Strathbeg was in order for the Sandhill crane (seen briefly close up and for a second time much more distantly, so no photos) with a bonus couple of Pec's, and the Black Scoter on the way home.
Other highlights of the Autumn included the Veery on Muck, a Ferruginous duck locally at Castle Howard, and a pleasant day on the south coast with Glossy ibis, wryneck and rose-coloured starling.
